The newie from the UV Race is a veritable collection of primitive thud and experimental song-smithery. This group of Aussie no-fi no-wavers are pretty good. They have a sound that is part Stooges, part ermm....summat like Moldy Peaches. I think I quite like them. They sing in a really cool manner with an Aussie drawl that makes me think of a funny beer commercial that used to be on TV. It went something like "How to speak San Franciscan...." and it cut to a shot with loads of bottoms in it and then the voice over (in a really thick Australian accent) said " Vagooinahhh! ....Vagoinahhh"... It was a truly great moment in my life. Anyway back to the matters in hand. The UV Race album. Its got some genius moments on it. The second track is called "Burn That Cat" and its about a dream one of the members had about a cop turning into a cat...after arresting the story teller and putting a finger up his jacksie. It's a really funny song. They remind me of The Stooges "Funhouse" era but with less flexing of muscle and less poncing around. This record was recorded by the guitarist from Eddy Current Suppression Ring and has a ramshackle sound that is super endearing. This group of dudes are ones to watch.
