8/10 Clinton Staff review, 12 May 2011

First off the packaging is amazing. Lovely screenprinted sleeve with bit of ribbon and I'll forgive the one sided 12" format on this occassion as there is a pair of scissors etched into it. In true collaborative style you get sounds from each, Pete Simonelli, frontman of Enablers does his spoken word poetry. The opening piece from Black Octagon is particularly impressive, dark instrumental blues like a laid back Earth, there follows a spoken word piece, then McWatt do their accordion, double bass minimilist chamber folk thing. Another spoken word piece is followed by folky guitar meanderings by Black Octagon. Nice concept, it works very well as a whole piece; kind of like going to a recital in a big old church with music and poetry interludes.
