Now this is the stuff of dreams surely? Old Hood cohorts re-unite over a nostalgic love of classic 80's bedroom indie after consuming red wine & end up with a three-part 7" vinyl attack machine, the first installment here, now, to be gone, v. soon! Neither side is quite what we expected. Not that I can tell which side is which anyway. This particular untitled clear vinyl face has me thinking of some mid-late 80s Factory act being remixed by King Midas Sound. Hazy vocodered vocals, a brooding bassline & plenty of warm, sleepy dubbed-out skank. The overall effect is that of very cerebral, downtempo gem. It definitely has subtle elements of Hood in there, amongst many, many others! I especially love the stuttering, ricocheting drum line on this tune. Flip over for something that more resembles that old snuggly, pastoral brand of pulsing electronica with a delicious glitchy organic perspective. There's some really lush detail & a compulsively drowsy, spectral atmosphere throughout. I'm reminded of both prime Morr Music & the glory days of Static Caravan but with a fresh twist. I get a bit of Schneider TM from it actually? So yeah, there's plenty of woozy retro elements here, all imbued with a totally modern sense of exploration & wonder. Look forward to the subsequent installments in this enigmatic series! There's only 300 of each colour-coded 7" so miss them at your peril!
