Horse Latitudes' Gathering is fairly heavy, slow doom that is reminiscent of Reverend Bizarre and Electric Wizard. For the most part, the vocals are clean, but at times it is buried in the general murk, but they sound epic at the same time, especially on songs like "Seas of Saturn" and the title track. All but one of the songs on Gathering are at least 9 minutes long, but this will help you drown in the atmosphere. Overall it may not be on par with the aforementioned bands, but there is potential to be found here. While having 2 bass guitars is a rather novel idea, I feel they could flesh out their sound with a guitar and/or at least a bit more percussion, but this should please those that like their metal slow and gloomy.
