Eagulls are a rarity in the fact that they are a local Leeds band I have not yet seen. Seems I'm just not down with the kids these days. Eagulls formed after the demise of local hardcore (ish) bands Fast Point and Hordes with the intention of evolving beyond hardcore whilst maintaining the key elements and a raw energy of that sound. What you end up with is a chant heavy indie pop sound saturated in distortion and stomping drums. It has that emotive energy you'd expect from hardcore but it's way catchier. Flip this cheeky 7" and you get 'Acrostical', a slow burner of a track that takes a while to get going before evolving into a snotty punk-pop affair. Both of these tracks were recorded by a good lad with an ample beard who, much like the band, shows great promise.
