There was an office discussion last week in which it was suggested that Andy Bell from Erasure would have been the man to replace the dead Freddie Mercury in Queen but imagine the confusion if Queens people accidentally rang Beady Eye bassist Andy Bell to offer him the job instead. 'I'm not dressing like that fookin' puff' etc. Today the office is split as to whether this should be reviewed or not but we do like to give young bands a chance and this lot are fresh on the scene I'm told. Is there such a thing as Oasis by numbers? If so here it is. The singer may have heard John Lennon sing once or twice and the rest of the band roll along competently in a moneyed groove waiting for their paycheck. Let's just say that if this was a demo sent in by four young lads from Bury hoping to emulate their Manc heroes it would go straight in the waste paper basket.
