When I say this is the new band from Afghan Whigs feller Greg Dulli, I am of course talking piffle as they are now 5 albums in (and this is apparently the first for 5 years). How the time drifts past. Dynamite Steps consists of cinematic widescreen American guitar music, with a feel of driving at high speed through desert-scapes. Mark Lanegan lends his guttural growl to 'Be Invited' but otherwise its Dulli who takes central stage. Reminds me of Sophia, Idaho, or at times Nick Cave. Big expansive grown-up rock, but still retaining that all important energy and edge.
