Ahhhh some straight up techno from the mind of one of the curators of the excellent Raster Noton Imprint. Historically Frank's work can range from the extremely abstract and complex to more rhythmically orientated as was displayed on his fantastic 'Rhythm' record which certainly had a few moments that would really work on the dancefloor. 'Komet' (also one of his pseudonyms) comes as a stark contrast to his recent 'Exp' disc which I enjoyed very much but can be a demanding listen at times and has yet to win me any friends. Here Frank elaborates on the rhythmic structures of 'Rhythm' but is no where near as stripped back and minimal. What we get are (mostly) mid-paced 4/4 grooves with some elements recalling early Sahko, Ritchie Hawtin's 'Concept' series and even more contemporary references like Sleeparchive and Sandwell District with added dubby effects. The album is dedicated to "The Flow" and so tracks continuously melt into each other without interruption making for a grand techno home listening experience although some moments could be slipped into a club environment. Recommended.
