1/10 Li'l Biz Staff review, 14 January 2011

The press release for this 7" is littered with the usual bullshit about 'the ones to watch in 2011' and 'the band most likely to go supernova in 2011' and 'a taster of what's to come' so I don't need to tell you what the deal is with these lads. They are already a fairly popular indie pop group who will soon, with a little push from the lads at Atlantic, be a more popular indie pop group. 'Austere' is a big-budget, pulling out all the stops kinda single that starts all groove-some and bass heavy before descending into a sort of musical CGI farce with bold choruses and epic displays of production virtuosity. And, on top of that they end the track with a bizarre outburst of double bass drum! I don't understand this single and I never want to hear it again. The B-side is a remix of the A-side.
