Here's a good one. Four analogue synth based repetitions from four of the finest artists working in the field presented as a four way split for the Maneuvers, Muziek Uit De Kosmos Festival which takes place later this year in Kraak's native land of Belgium. Rene Hell's contribution is a crash course in astral minimalism and sees a soft bubbling arpeggio play off a variety of harmonious cosmic soft synths. It's about as futurist as analogue synth music can be and reinforces my belief that there's plenty more room to maneuver in the genre. Bear Bones, Lay Low come at it with eastern flare making the most of a dry bassline and simple percussive pulse to create a tune that wouldn't sound out of place on Ghost Box. Kinda eastern infused Radiophonic Workshop type stuff. French composer Jonathan Fitoussi takes a minimalist soundtrack approach with purist results. Almost nothing happens but it's so tastefully executed that stands out as the best of the four tracks. Finally we have Jonas Reinhardt who like Lay Low...gives his synth jam an eastern twist reinforced with a funky arpeggio bassline. Almost sounds like that Sun Araw jam. All in all this is a satisfying collection with not a bad tune in the bunch. A Great split 7".
