8/10 Brett Staff review, 27 January 2011
I'm thinking 'guilty pleasure' here. I mean anything that sounds so much like the execrable likes of White Lies shouldn't be doing anything much for me but I think it's done well enough here to more than excuse itself for being in such company and that's quite an achievement. Big fucking eighties production like a more ballsy M83, some New Order-y sections, an over-the-top positivity rush of a chorus, bits that are like Duran Duran with distortion pedals, a singer who sounds a bit like the guy from The Rapture crossed with Robert Smith or maybe even Terry Hall.. You've about got it there I reckon. Probably one of the best unapologetically poppy indie tunes I've heard in a while.
