8/10 Phil Staff review, 09 December 2010

These guys had a CD out on Blackest Rainbow a while back and this is part deux (see my superb command of the French language?) of their collaborative efforts. If I'm honest (I like to be honest as lying gets you nowhere in life) I can't remember the first volume. Cam Deas I'm familiar with as he's one of those guitar pluckery fellas who strums away for hours minding his own business entertaining you lot. This is about as far removed from that sound as I can imagine. This is some seriously intense experimental electronic music. It mentioned La Monte Young and Pan Sonic in the press release and I'd go along with that. It's quite harsh industrial sounding music which throbs and groans intensely. It reminds me a bit of some of the early Throbbing Gristle stuff as well.... Electronic thuds over cyclical tones which appear to never end but then morphs into something else equally as unsettling. Interesting stuff though not an easy listen by any stretch of the means!
