Shit me, I wished I'd packed my sleeping bag. Dead Leaf Echo have a really sedate sound that welcomes shoegazers but not beetle crushers. Or brothel creepers. They have a ghostly sound that envelopes your mind like a multi-tentacled fog. It's such a gentle listen is this album. It reminds me of Ride or summat. The guitars jangle and the vocals are more breathy than an asthmatic mouse with some heavy shopping. The musicianship's well professional and amazingly controlled... Hmmm maybe even considered. It oozes sophistication. I reckon they recorded this album inside a opium-filled biscuit tin. It's not going to throw uncomfortable distortion at you or experimental noise. It's consistent and ethereal. It's strength, I'd wager, comes from its languid subtlety and determination to never go above 4 mph. If it was a cup of coffee it would be decaffeinated.
