This is sounding like somewhat of a departure from my recollections of Daniel Martin-McCormick's last record for Not Not Fun. Damaged lo-fi loner crooner ballads are the order of the day with the man sounding totally on the edge at various points and at other times kinda playful. Especially worth noting is the echo'd up cover of 'Rhythm Of The Night'. All in all, pop songs are breaking out of the mix. Check 'Next To You' which is a slow burning deep disco/synth wave tune with great melodies and devious synth solo. Then there's the collapsing racket of 'Sleeping Through It' and the weirdo muffled techno of 'Honeymoon Babylon'. Strange yet compelling screwed pop.
