Not heard of Black Bombaim before. They're here to take your daughter away & give her a good seeing to though. Not heard of Black Bombaim before. They're here to take your daughter away & give her a good seeing to though. After they've finished playing their long, sprawling growling stoner rock epic 'Alexandra'. By that time though, your daughter may well have got bored of waiting to be ravished & left in a steaming, panting heap and just gone down the local for a few bacardis & a game of darts instead. This is good stuff but my only concern is they're straight into the wibbly riffing with no build up. I feel like i've joined their stellar groov-a-thon half way through. And the riffs aren't low-down or evil enough. I think i've listened to too much Kyuss & Sabbath. Good effort though. I'll look out for them playing live as this music is hard to truly capture on CD. Probably one of my fave band names is The Notorious Hi-Fi Killers. Wish they'd come round & destroy mine. And then just stay in my bedroom playing their shimmering space-rock for a while. The track they offer up here is recorded in a rather tinny fashion but it doesn't detract from the fact there's some wonderfully potent 60s psychedelic elements & blistering guitars on offer here amongst the usual hypnotic repeato-cycles & overall mantra-like aura. 'You're Going to be Free' sounds like a fascinating demo. I'd love to hear this cracking tune re-recorded with a really good producer to flesh out the low-end a bit. But then, these guys have always sounded slightly reedy & lo-fi and I reckon that's half the appeal. Another troupe i'd kill (someone's hi-fi) to see live.
