- Seeds by The Knife In Collaboration With Mt. Sims And Planningtorock
6/10 Li'l Biz Staff review, 02 December 2010
12" remixes of the track 'Seeds' from The Knife's recent opera concept thing about Charles Darwin and his evolution of the species theory you might have heard about. From what I recall 'Seeds' is the most dancefloor friendly of the tracks on 'Tomorrow, In A Year' so it makes sense that it's been singled out for a remix 12". Remixes come courtesy of Portable (a.k.a Bodycode) and Shinedoe. Don't know much about either of these artists but they do a fine job here. Shinedoe brings an almost trance-like feel to his mix with arpeggiated synth tones and a consistent bass beat working up to a inevitable euphoric conclusion. Tasty stuff though, with excellent use of the source vocal track. Bodycode stretches this one to the limits of a 33rpm 12"... Well not quite but at over 11 mins in duration it's a mammoth mix for sure. As you can imagine, Bodycode takes his time to build texture and rhythm with multiples samples and sequences combining to create an undeniable groove. The gothic nature of the original vocal becomes very apparent here (to the extent that I keep thinking I'm listening to the lead singer of Interpol) but other than that it's a banging, acid-infused floor filler.
