Heard a lot about Eluvium but never actually heard them. What a shame. I'll begin with this a 4 track EP with a remix by one of them out of The Books. The title track is a pleasant reverb drenched tune with a drone underpinning some nice echoey piano. There is singing sounding a little bored and distracted which kind of works in a way but the track only reaches its dizzy heights once he flutters off leaving the instruments to echo off quite beautifully. The second track is pretty much an extended version of the intro to U2's 'With or Without You' - no bad thing really is it? The third track a beautiful drone whilst the remix starts with churning slow mo beats, picked guitars and electronics but ends all too soon without going too far from the initial premise. Overall here Eluvium create a hazy world of nearly melodies and moments of greatness which leaves the listener a bit frustrated at times but also craving for more and on the second listen everything slowly reveals itself much more clearly as the music rises up through the fog.
