6/10 Phil Staff review, 11 November 2010
Here's a new CD on Somehow Recordings who are the latest ambient drone kids on the block. Apparently this Polish chappie (also known as Cezar for mates only I presume) used to be involved in punk but listening to this you wouldn't get that at all. For your money you get a CD in a fat plastic case filled with ambient drone soundscapes which are all textured, perhaps like some interesting artex you'd find on a mate's ceiling. It has quite an industrial feel to it.... when I say industrial I mean the true sense of the word as it sounds like background humming noise of a busy workplace or something. Reminds me a bit of the Eraserhead soundtrack in parts... very field recording(y) and despite it sounding like there's not much going on you can hear micro noises here and there which pad it out nicely.
10/10 Susanne Hafenscher Customer review,
Behind the unpretentious title Vol. 51 one will find a stunning
album of the polish sound artist Cezary Gapik.
The subtle combination of sounds and the inspiring textures of each track enter gradually the ear. The vast impressive soundscapes are filled with hidden mysteries.
I was captured by the fascinating sound sculptures which slowly evolve to different views. The scenes change almost unnoticed. From start to finish a deep going and interesting listening .'
