I was just reading the press release for this one and it says for fans of My Bloody Valentine, Slowdive, The Cocteaus and Chairlift. I was gonna say who the fuck are Chairlift but after a quick search on the site I can see we stock 'em. My opening gambit is ruined by my lack of product knowledge. I walk away slowly with head bowed crying into my crap winter hat. Anyway I've only heard a few tracks of this and it's that sort of slightly gothic sounding shoegazey indie along the line of the earlier Cocteaus. Female echoey vocals over shimmery feedback-laden guitars with slow, heavy, plodding drumbeats. It's pretty good for what it is and I'd probably say it's more along the lines of Cranes (without the shrill vocals) and the Cocteaus than anything else. Certainly if you're a fan of the those bands and you're into the shoegazey business I reckon you'd do well to check out Soars' debut album.
