8/10 Brian Staff review, 28 October 2010

Trad Scots folkster Roberts is a guy we're all real fond of here. His contemporary re-assembling of deeply traditional modes (& moods) is further explored with this sweet collaboration with Jackie Oates, a charming, rustic fiddle player. Both sides on this limited Room 40 release have a warmth & playfulness that has me doing a clumsy, drunken slow-jig in my head before collapsing onto a table, spilling mead & scrumpy all over a selection of gasping, buxom wenches! It ends in a rather playful, briefly discordant fashion which makes me giggle but then those angry girls round on me & the smile is wiped clean from my chops by a hefty right hook from the biggest, angriest lass. Don't fuck with girls who drink pints guys, they're much, much harder than YOU! We got this late 'cause the label forgot about us & made Phil cry into his squirrel & flange crisps
