9/10 Jack Customer review, 8th February 2016

On Faun Fables' first two albums, singer/songwriter Dawn McCarthy developed the art of mystical folk beauty to heights that had not been seen for a long time - at least since Kate Bush's prime in the middle 1980s. The sparse intensity and variety of vocal tones - from spoken word to beautiful Joan Baez style folk melodies - was utterly original and totally enchanting. Even if the production is not as stark their best work, "Light of a Vaster Dark" remains a welcome return to form for Dawn McCarthy after the disappointing "Transit Rider".
