- The Race Against Time Hots Up by The Rebel

Renegade madman and Country Teasers mouthpiece Ben "The Rebel" Wallers returns with another collection of skewed, irresponsible and totally ridiculous pop music of the highest calibre. Everyone should have some idea of what to expect from The Rebel... backward, experimental and highly entertaining outsider indie pop is the impression I always got when listening to his stuff. 'The Race Against Time Hots Up' doesn't disappoint with extreme levels of quirk maintained throughout. I'm hearing ace keyboard lines, over amped lo-fi drum grooves, manic use of rhythm, generally strange use of melody and daft as hell lyrical observations to top it off. Wallers' vocal style gives off a lyrical bile feel with points, descriptions, warnings, outrageous anger, observations and life lessons all spewing forth with random glee from his fowl mouth. Lyrics are also borrowed from the likes of Hamblen, George Orwell and Gillian Walsh. Particularly like the last few seconds of 'These Things Shall Mark Pass' and the intensity of 'Collaboration'. Not noticed before but Wallers publishing company is entitled 'I was fucking your daughter so long and hard I forgot to sort out any publishing Music Ltd' He's a funny bugger that Rebel feller.
