This ones a no-brainer. If you have any interest in the current crop of 'east Coast dreamers, schemers, indie refugees and bedroom avant gardists' emerging from the US underground over the past 2/3 years then it's likely that this compilation will interest you. It covers the spectrum of artists dabbling with music technology in the post-Animal Collective musical climate we find ourselves in currently. Everyone is included here: Balam Acab, Small Black, Washed Out, Toro Y Moi, Truman Peyote, oOoOO (current favourites in the office this week), Memory Tapes and Bear In Heaven among many others. You've also got the obligatory contribution from Animal Collective and Crystal Castles, two are the scenes benchmark figures. This is a great compilation. Certain artists obviously resonate with me more than others (and there's a few names/sounds I'm yet to encounter beyond this comp) yet it's a thorough effort to document an emerging scene that pretty much oozes blissful cool. Pass the lifepipe my good man.
