These guys have totally been sucking the (Joe) Cock(er) of sixties style blues rock. You could argue this type of hard rocking, slightly funk tinged, whiskey drenched soul-based rock is cheesier then a trip to a Leerdammer factory but if you put your eyes to bed, than wake up Mr Sense and Miss Smell you find a few gems on the planet called Velcro Lewis. If you like stuff that sounds like Canned Heat, Vanilla Fudge or mebbe Tony McPhee's Groundhogs you will certainly cream yourself when you hear these sweet fucking cuts. There are some really strong songs on this LP, and the whole thing spirals all over the musical universe. There are rough as sandpaper vocals, pounding drums and squealing, blazing guitar leads that sound like they have been beamed in from another time.... Like when music was actually good... You know before dressing up as an 18th century chimney sweep and being a massive scag head and writing jaunty, Mockney songs was seen as being "IMPORTANT" or "RELEVANT". These guys know the rock path, and tread it without irony and with a soupcon of humour. They've got a song called "Dog Catchin' Women". Enough said. This is well ace and I'm well stuck on Velcro Lewis...
