Harmonious Thelonious is a new project from Stefan Schwander (aka Antonelli) a Düsseldorf-based musician and producer with a keen ear for rhythm and melody (which i guess helps in this line of work) and an anti-agenda when it comes to fads and trends. As a result he's almost created his own sub-genre of dance music that takes the hypnotic rhythms of African music and re-tools it using European sequencing techniques and real loud amplification. What can I say about this CD? It's fucking ace for a start and totally mental too. It basically sounds like Stefan has heard Congotronics and decided that it's not loud enough or crazy enough so he's re-imagined the sound using modern recording/sampling techniques and ramped everything up to 11 for maximum effect creating what can only be described as hybrid form of Afro-Industrial music. These tracks sound like they we're recorded live too as you can faintly make out a very loud and excitable audience who appear to be going crazy throughout. I fucking love this record and I'm gonna go buy one now. I recommend you do the same. Nerd info: 'Talking' compiles the tracks previously available on EP 'On Stages' released on Düsseldorf-based label Diskant records with the addition of four bonus tracks.
