This is released by The Factory Foundation recordings, a label dedicated to the original Factory imprint to the point that the review copy is almost unplayably warped - an obvious sardonic nod to the original Factory's ability to scupper all their good ideas. The music is also obviously in awe of the golden triangle of New Order, A Certain Ratio and Section 25, really coming into its own on 'Fine Print' (Fine Time?) classic glacial New Order circa 'Power Corruption and Lies', acoustic guitars glisten, sequences chug away under deadpan melancholic vocals. The following 'Thin Air' is an acoustic treat, both tracks also recall the icy synth pop of Maps. Although an excellent release it does bring up the issue that if you look at the original Factory premise one thing it didn't do was regurgitate old ideas so it would be encouraging for the label to push into new and exciting areas. For the moment though this is a strong release and a worthy addition to the catalogue. Four tracks in all on 12" picture disc.
