9/10 Brian Staff review, 01 September 2010

Big fat deranged buzz single of the week alert. Yes, by the time you read this, it could well be sold out. "The Guardian" have been seduced but what does that really mean? Are Still Corners really that great? Phil was blown away by the slinky majesty of their previous collection 'Remember Pepper?' the other year then.... Nothing. Until now. Are Still Corners "the best new band in Britain"? Does that heap tons of unreasonable expectation on their young, attractive shoulders? Well yes they sound pretty wonderful to me. Combining classic old-skool spectral pop nous with stunning ethereal vocals and a sort of sunkissed, hazy indie-folk timelessness, they no longer sound exclusively like a (good) Broadcast pastiche. just a remarkably assured & gifted band with a rich & striking sound. The two songs here are both quite fragile, sad-eyed & beautiful, with an assured production & a classic "indie kid-friendly" sleeve design. This is the kind of record you wait months for & when it arrives you can't quite believe how perfect it is. Don't dawdle on this one, guys 'n' gals..... Numbered of 700 copies only in two pressings.

As much as I love Don't Fall In Love I cant help thinking that the guitar riff is lifted straight of The Roots' The Seed 2.0.... Oh well :)
