8/10 Brian Staff review, 01 September 2010

Another act picking at the bones of the grand & noble beast that was once the UK New Wave is Minks. They're another band that has settled on the more tender, delicate sound of the early 80's (acts such as Wild Swans, Felt & Lotus Eaters) simply making an effort to imbue their tunes with a fragile ethereal quality that suggests both the more dreamy end of Factory records ('Our Ritual') and, occasionally, the nervy sketches of early Cure ('Ophelia'). There's some wonderful guitar textures throughout this single - they have the authentic, spectral sound of way back yonder downpat. It's bands like these (and labelmates Wild Nothing) that are successfully showcasing this esoteric strain of half-forgotten guitar pop from the long, long ago days whilst stamping it with their own classic songwriting prowess. Quality single!
