This album is an amalgamation of two releases: an EP and a cassette. An EP and a cassette together at last. These guys are from Colorado, U.S.A. and I quite like their schtick. They sound lo-fi one moment, I reckon a bit Guided By Voices, the next they might sound very psych-y and jangly a bit like a bonged out Americana garage band. It's pretty catchy and poppy and makes you pine for sun kissed adventures. Some of it really makes you imagine great expanses of America that have been untouched by the destructive hands of man, and how wondrous it would be to fly across them in some sort of glider, while eating a really amazing sandwich. My favourite tracks by these chipminks are "Mint in My Mouth" which is the best song an early GBV never wrote, and the brittle "All of Denver Is Wasted". Two songs on a really sweet record that's totally worth welcoming into your houses.
