Black Moth Super Rainbow are a experimental psychedelic band from Pennsylvania. Their music has always taken precedence over any image and they hide their real selves behind aliases such as Tobacco (Vocals) and Power Pill Fist (Bass, Atari). Their third album Dandelion Gum was originally released in 2007. The songs are themed around tales that have been passed down through a tradition of family storytelling. Whilst being categorised as an electronic band, that pigeon-holing really doesn’t tell the full story. Their music could be described as being like the weirder end of The Flaming Lips output and therefore, pretty damn good.

I'm new to this band, but I've grown to really like just about everything I've heard from them so far with Dandelion Gum being by far my favorite album. Their songs sound like collections of late seventies/early eighties PBS educational show's theme songs on steroids and dust, set to quasi-hip hop beats with a dash of folk and rock splashed in the right places for good measure. I know all those elements combined seem like they would be ridiculous together but it actually works and sounds incredible.
