9/10 Ant Staff review, 19 August 2010

Now I do like most of what this lady does and this is no exception. The title track has a stomping beat with bleeps that remind me of Ital Rockers, if anyone remembers them. Then the riff goes quite proggy in a bizzare way that Rustie and Hudson Mohawke have been exploring recently. It is like Rick wakeman has taken over her Gameboy! It does retain soul though and the melody is very sweet indeed. It has her trademark production sound stamped allover it and again I must emphasize that the melody really is a tear jerker. 'Ingredients' has a dark bassline with the bleeps reminding me of some sort of fictional future egyptian soul music. 'Shouldn't Be Here' is a lovely late night, deeply atmospheric cut that in some ways is stylistically similar to Burial, or at least gives me the same sort of sad feeling, although this is still unmistakably Ikonika.
