8/10 Andrew Customer review, 19th October 2014
A lovely album by Seu Jorge this, sunshine lilting arrangements of well know songs, pity its nearly winter, but you can't have everything can you? For me this is largely about the two singles released from the album, Everybody Loves the Sunshine and The Model. Now Kraftwerk don't always inspire thoughts of beaches, sunshine and longing looks over a bbq, but the man seu turns this into a sizzling laid back seduction of a track. Its languid and louche and very catchy. Roy Ayers track is on the other hand inextricably linked to sunsets and lazy days, however this manages to be more than just a walk through of the song. Seu and Almaz manage to inject a touch of the tropical to make this well worth a listen.
There are poenty of other highlights here, including an intriguing cover of Michael Jackson. The album does drift a little in parts, the languid nature of the material not exactly conducive to keeping the listener totally focused, but in this case its perhaps not such a bad thing. Losing yourself to an hour-ish of this is a pleasure.
