9/10 Brett Staff review, 22 July 2010

You know I never even realised that the Dean in question here was Dean Wareham from Galaxie 500. That one somehow totally passed me by. Apparently these tunes were two of thirteen selected for use as mini-soundtracks to screen tests filmed by Andy Warhol for an exhibition last year which is pretty prestigious like. 'I'll Keep It With Mine' was the Bob Dylan cover used for Nico and it somehow manages to be both totally lush (with its string-heavy arrangement) yet really understated and intimate (a quality largely brought by Britta Phillips' stunning delivery). It kinda reminds me of something like God Help The Girl except vastly better. 'It Don't Rain in Beverly Hills' (for Edie Sedgwick) is completely different in terms of sound but equally as excellent with its dubby bassline, drum machine beat, spacey synth sounds and vocals from Dean. A genuine double A-side where both tracks are total and utter winners!
