Hoorah - its a sunny day and instead of working my fingers to the bone packing your delicious records I've been allowed to do the reviews. Treats are in store too for you if you purchase this new Nils Frahm and Anne Muller CD. Muller produces beautiful music using cello and other stringed instruments whilst Frahm chips in with delightful clicks and cuts. It sounds like a total collaborative process, some tracks seem to be based around the electronics with the strings on top and other tracks sound like complete orchestral pieces with the electronics adding a contemporary edge. In both cases though one compliments the other to splendid effect. Comparisons could be drawn to Rachel's, Max Richter, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Bersarrin Quartet, Plaid, the accessible end of Machinefabriek. The glitchy electronics are nice in themselves but the strings add a completely different dimension completely. Go Seek.
