- Take It Down (In Dub) by L.B.Dub Corp

This is one of Luke Slater's lesser known alias', having only released two 12"s and a couple of remixes under the guise for his own Mote-evolver label. Here he's in superior dub techno mode with an absolute stormer of a tune constructed for big room floor damage. A mid tempo 4/4 pounding kick, dubby, metallic synth pad loops, pitched down vocal making the odd appearance and pure sweaty floor energy with huge filtering dub crackles and lots of details in the mix like unexplainable futuristis sci-fi techno sounds. The filters take things down low with bubbling tension. The track builds brilliantly with big synth climaxes for maximum crowd pleasure yet avoiding the cheesy cliches that plague dance music e.g the five minute snare rush. To my ears this is techno perfection. When Slater is on form like this I could cry with sheer delight. The flip is a more downtempo number with some Carl Craig style strings. Here he's in a more reflective almost melancholy mood with sleazy vocal, soulful keys and simple percussion relying on a low end thud, shakers and hypnotic rim-shots. A brilliantly stirring tune. Both tracks have totally made my day.
