As much as I love this fella the Power Grid mini-album on Planet Mu didn't quite do it for me.. As much as I love this fella the Power Grid mini-album on Planet Mu didn't quite do it for me.. I mean it was good and everything, with a couple of standout tunes, but for me it didn't come close to the stuff on the amazing Gremlinz comp or his recent Hyperdub 12"s. Or this new one for that matter, 'cos it's proper ace. 'Bruzin VIP' stomps wonkily over everything in its path in the most schizoid manner imaginable and, despite the fact that it's probably as rhythmically complex as anything I've heard him do, it still manages to retain a totally coherent groove. Quite a trick. 'Hysteria' couldn't be much more different if it tried, spending half its time as some sort of hi-NRG Eurotrance and half as grimey, stuttering hip-hop. Yeah, it's quite numpty-ish but fuck it, it's ridiculously fun.
