Was dreaming about a possible Digital Mystikz artist album dropping one day. After the increasingly volatile and cartoonish 12"s on DMZ (obviously attempting top kill off that zig-zagging mid range wobble by saturating their records with it) Mala arrives with a triple pack 12" called 'Return II Space'. A more considered & atmospheric approach is on offer here but there's a man in the office & he's a-ranting away so I cannot concentrate on this disc (though i'm quietly absorbing some slightly odd-stepping beats, alien synths and mega understated juicy rhythms!) On disc two, my concentration is paramount and within a minute Ant & I have discovered 'Mountain Dread March' - an absolute DMZ classic, deep, dubby & industrial with a persistent probing bassline, clattering echo-laden beats & dubbed-out brilliance creaking away under a haunting dystopian keyboard refrain. I feel like crying it's soooo good. 'Eyez' follows the legendary DMZ template with another insistent bout of low end menace, a cool android effect fizzes away like a broken light saber and the delicious traditional dub elements carry the tune along, all the while wallowing in balmy ambience. So that's two tunes out of 6, you get the jist, i'm not gonna give it all away - i've picked away at the central hub, the backbone of this most anticipated release. I'm so very happy, this is just what the Doctor ordered says Ant. He's right you know
