I've love love loved MIA down the years but recently her ridiculous overexposure in the music press (and the accompanying rise in cringe-worthy 'foot in mouth' incidents) has seen that love begin to be tested for the first time. Plus the noises I've heard about the new album (as well as that tune which may as well just have been 'Ghost Rider') haven't filled me with huge amounts of confidence about it.. And neither did listening to this one via a shite radio rip streaming on Youtube but unsurprisingly its mangled beats, chugging guitars, kitchen sink production and filthy lyrics delivered with maximum autotune are all totally different beasts in the flesh. It's totally bangin' up in yo' face, like. Ant has just compared it to The Bug mashing up Victoria Beckham and he's not a million miles away. 'Meds and Feds' on the other side relies far too heavily on the dodgy heavy rawk guitars and as a result has fairly unanimously been declared as more than slightly dodge by the denizens of the office. That A-side though.. I like dat!
