The kitty drawing on the sleeve of this album is adorable, with his little ball of string and that...bless. Cats have always been a good way of selling records and i appreciate that Milk White White Teeth are aware of this. I'm guessing these folks are from Leeds (or somewhere near by) as they've had a tune out on one of those Dance To The Radio 4X12 jobbies and this single is produced by Richard Formby (Spectrum) who has a studio here. Though the band hint at a non-conventional way of operating (see press release) the results aren't amazingly 'out there' or beyond convention but they do know how to craft a fine pop song so we'll let them off. The A-side is a lush indie pop extravaganza that kinda lingers in Wild Beasts territory albeit without the daft singing. The B-side works alot better for me. Dynamically it flips from light and funky to grandiose and the arrangement is super tricky. Nice tune.
