Melted by Ty Segall

Known to release a new album each mealtime, Ty Segall is now filling in the gaps between meals by re-issuing his old ones. Melted was his third album from way back in those heady days we knew as 2010 and was made in collaboration with Sic Alps Mike Donovan. It's a blast of short and sharp garage rock with trademark lo-fi amp buzz and songs with a glam rock catchiness and a psych rock sensibility. Lots of rock fun as always and still fresh as a daisy.

8/10 Jack 28th January 2015

This is one of those albums that sounds like it was meticulously produced to sound like it was just thrown together on a 4 track in someone's basement. A closer listen hints at some pretty subtle sonic detailing going on around the edges. Lo-fi is all the rage right now, and there are so many artists who do an awful job with it...but Ty Segall is not one of them. This is album is non-stop fun, loud guitar, buzz, drums, drones, and hooks. This IS the feel-good album of 2010. Highlights? The beautifully boastful and raucous "Girlfriend", "Imaginary Person", and "Melted." Seriously, though, the whole album is fantastic. Put on your hipster clothes and shake your hair and dance around!
