8/10 Brian Staff review, 06 May 2010

Dunno much about these guys except we sold quite a lot of their Dead Pilot jobber last year. I get a kind of spaghetti western post-rock/folk thing going on from near the beginning, on 'Part Mantra' - a cyclical plucked guitar lulls you into a dreamy void whilst all manner of lovely slide guitar & mellow feedbacky psychedelic noise encircles your drowsy, sun-baked head. Thoroughly impressive, with a spacious widescreen production. There's surely inspiration from the soundtrack escapades of Cave & Ellis throughout this CD, but coming from a much more frazzled de-constructed psych rock vantage point. The comparison stands even when at their rockiest as there's often a hint of unease abound here, something slightly unnerving, way off in the hazy distance. It could be a mirage, it could be some vultures waiting for you to die or it could just be a gang of stoned mariachi's laden with liquor & good vibes. But you'll have to get to the end of the CD to find out which 'cause I ain't telling. A powerful, engaging listen indeed.
