8/10 Paul Customer review, 21st May 2010

If you like 'Gravity Grave' or 'Sunshine Superman', then you're sure to love this album.  If you love 'Bittersweet Symphony' or 'Lucky Man' then perhaps it's not for you.  Fortunately, I'm very much in the former camp; this album is a splendid (re-)appraisal of early Verve, sort of turned on its head.

I have to keep reminding myself that there are plenty of folk (students) who weren't around for early Verve, let alone remember 'A Storm In Heaven'.  For them, this album will be a revelation.  For those that were around, it reignites great memories of when guitar bands made extremely involving music, when 8 minute songs were not 'epic' - but simply the 'norm'.

Whether this album will trouble the charts is another thing altogether, but I suspect that should Exit Calm find themselves playing at summer festivals, they should almost certainly convert the gathered throngs without any difficulty whatsoever.

Not really a 'singles' album (aside from the two obvious tracks which have already been released), it makes far more sense as a cohesive whole.

An excellent debut, and I look forward to seeing them playing larger venues in the months to come.

10/10 mantaray Customer review,

The best debut album since The Stone Roses from the best new British band in years. Just Stunning.
