LP comp of 78's circa 1920-1950 on Parlortone/Dust To Digital.
I got super excited by this one in that sad kind of way I get excited about weird old curious records arriving here. Parlortone is an offshoot of the Dust To Digital who've released sound breathtaking compilations of varying sorts of Americana over the years. I'm not sure what the remit of Parlortone is but after the interesting but short Edouard-Leon Scott de Martinville 7" here's a comp of early string music from the 78 era. And by string music it's guitar, oud, tar, violin, sitar etc. The music is from all over the shop. You've got early bits of music from countries as far flung as Armenia, India, Bolivia, Congo, Vietnam, Georgia, Iran, Paraguay, Croatia, Norway, Japan, Lebanon, Uganda & Turkey. It's funny how a list of countries is more important than the artists in this instance. For your money you get a bunch of early folks music from around the word which is inspiring and diverse. It reminds me a lot of that Eastern Standard Time that came out last year but it's a more primitive raw take on that. Excellent stuff.
