I really loved that 'Fordlandia' CD by Jóhann Jóhannsson and now 'And In The Endless Pause There Came The Sound Of Bees', his formerly self-released soundtrack, has been lovingly pressed up on wax by neo-classical label-du-jour Type. Rousing tides of orchestral beauty mingle with sombre piano interludes and discreet electronic flourishes. Jóhannsson is quite the master when it comes to creating moody, evocative music and this breathtaking album showcases him at the peak of his compositional prowess, a pinnacle i'm sure he'll not descend from any time in the near future. I love it when a musical score engages me so much I'm overcome with a desire to watch the affiliated film. So we should all chase up Marc Craste's 'Varmints' and enjoy the visual aspect this record is intended to accompany. Exceptional quality, as usual, from those premier league aesthetes at Type.....As with the majority of Type vinyl, i'd get yer skates on as it rarely hangs around for too long......
