Shit, these two don't waste any time getting started. Right off the bat Brotzmann's immediately recognisable strangulated Power Sax demands your utmost attention despite the competition from Nilssen-Love who elastically jumps from drum roll to hyperactive drum roll. It's hard to know who's really taking the lead in the freeform drag race of this title track but we all end up the winners. The following 'Glasgow Kiss' is very different: oddly Eastern with Brotzmann playing the snake charmer who occasionally descends into madness. So, two initial extremes and a set of following tracks that expolre the points inbetween. I'm not sure if this is a pure improv set, some parts are planned in advance or they've simply built an uncommon understanding (probably the most likely explanation) but there are elements here you'd swear would have to be composed to some degree. Whatever the case it's a uniformly excellent example of modern European free playing from one of the masters who started it all!
