Kranky go Kosmische. Chicago native Ken is unfortunately not some chirpy perma-tanned car wash owner from the North London borough but a supremely talented guitarist who often (somehow) makes his chosen instrument sound like old modular synthesizers. The first song here could have fallen straight off 'Phaedra' by Tangerine Dream as it A/ sounds really old and B/ is fucking marvelous. He's obviously been studying minimal composition real hard for ages as this is one of the most natural sounding tributes to the outer reaches of 70's minimalism i've heard. I really can't believe he's getting all this bizarre otherworldly sound ricocheting from his guitar, this album is wonderfully varied & sounds totally suited to its vinyl only format. I especially love the track 'Raagini Robot'. It sounds like Autechre remixing a track off that Gareth Davis & Steven R. Smith 'Westering' album! Thoroughly engaging......AND it doesn't sound like a load of turnips in a washing machine
