What a thoroughly splendid compilation we have here... The first side is dedicated to Africa and features Caspar Shiki & His Guitar, Latin Stars, Nyasaland Club Singers, Caspar Casino Kids, Dorothy Masuka With Her Trio, Groupo De Totok Francois, Mamtigudi & His Dancers. Fear not if you have never heard of these guys, you're not alone. The music is from the 1940's and 50's and is very entertaining. Essentially the musicians create a fusion of zulu musical traditions and western jazz and the results really put a smile on my face. The Indian side also features music from the '40's and I guess is the sort of stuff you'd be hearing in the British colonial jazz clubs of the era. This side features Taj Mahal Hotel Dance Orchestra,, Rueben Soloman and his Dance Boys, Teddy Weatherford & His Band, Batuk Nandy and others. It's always a pleasure to listen to this old archive material.
