- YNOHPMYS by Maurizio Bianchi / M.B
8/10 Ant Staff review, 18 February 2010This Italian electronics maestro seems to be still going strong after around 30 years with his latest release. Opener 'Ortini' is like the hazey recollection of a long train journey being put through an analogue filter bank. 'The Inflammatory Sesor' has a kind of feeling of nostalgia or distant memory that recalls William Basinski or The Caretaker. 'Oigada' sounds like two decomposing tape loops slightly out of sync creating a disorientating phasing effect. There are some very absorbing sounds here to get lost in. One for a late night in near darkness. Recommended.
10/10 Mike Scagliotti Customer review, 6th February 2015
Discovering the album YNOHPMYS is like traversing special, hidden terrain in Maurizio Bianchi's post-apocalpytic landscape. Unlike his other albums, which grind the sonic shards with more intensity, YNOHPMYS provides several passages of pensive respite. This album opens up for the listener a beautifully balanced panorama. Listening to YNOHPMYS is like being the lone survivor of the apocalypse, wandering alone on the wide open steppe after the warring nations have laid ruin to the face of the earth. Majestic clouds and plumes of gas scud overhead and then are gone. Alluring, sulphurous light spreads quietly. Feelings of dread and transcendence interweave throughout the space of this album.
