Tape time! I know nothing whatsoever of Archers By The Sea apart from they've had stuff out on Blackest Rainbow before. The mystery doesn't really subside from listening to this dinky analog job as its vague and dreamy soundscaping is filled with a wonderful sense of intrigue. The distant voices of sirens seem to cry away, always obscured by layers of droning, fading ambient noise which recalls nothing so much as William Basinski's decayed tape experiments to my ears. Or maybe even some of the quieter moments of that Leyland Kirby opus. As with so many releases of this king, at lower volumes this works beautifully as background music but up high all sorts of details are there waiting to be revealed.
