Greg Dulli is the king of cover versions. The ex-Afghan Whig can't keep his grubby mitts off other folks songs and whenever the option to do a cover version presents itself he's the boy in class with his hand up first going 'me, me, me'. Here he covers the music of Eddie Hinton who is someone I should know but I'll admit my ignorance and say I don't know who he is...After a quick flick on wikipedia I can see he was quite a famous guy back in the 60's/70's where he was a session musician and songwriter for a load of famous soul bods (& some fella called Elvis Pricely or something). On this single he covers 'Cover Me' (which I've just played 3 times and can't get the fucking thing out of my head now....) and the more soulful 'Hard Luck Guy' which is a hammondtastic souly beast complete with Dulli's powerful musings blurting all over it. Surprisingly enjoyable but then I really liked the 'My World Is empty without You Babe' single they did 19 years ago. Christ that makes me feel old....
